In Lana's own words:

-  What made you decide to start working with me, and where were you at with your dog when we first began working together?

⁠⁠Helena was recommended by our local rescue centre. From our first conversation Helena was able to help, she listened to our problem and found a way to help. She was very flexible with us and met our needs exactly. When we first started we were completely stressed out dogs were stressed and our dogs behaviours was out of control since the death of our older dog. We were at the end of our tether and didn't know where to turn until we found Helena.

- What were some of the biggest hurdles during the process?

​Finding the time to put things into practice. But when 5-10 minutes here and there throughout the day started to really help our dogs. Money was an issue but Helena was as flexible as she could be which we really appreciated and together we found a level of assistance that worked cost wise for both of us.

- How did you find the support and guidance during the mentorship?

​Excellent. Between our home visits, field visits and phone calls at all times of day and night Helena was there for us.

- Have you seen any changes in your dog’s behaviour since working together?

​Massive changes. Our dogs are now sleeping side by side and some times the smaller dog just plonks himself on top of the smaller dog. This is coming from a place where they couldn't even look at each other without fighting. We had all our internal doors with locks on and they were supervised all of the time whereas now they play with each other and are completely relaxed. They still have the odd spat but they are making up shortly after.

- What have you learned about your dog?

Our small dog is very protective of his humans and he doesn't like sharing but he thinks he allows the big dog to come and play which is ultimately that he just wants to play with the big dog but only on his terms.

- What’s been your favourite part of working together?

Getting to know our dogs quirks and also getting to know Helena. She is part of our family now.

- What would you say to someone considering the mentorship but not quite sure if it’s the right time or investment?

I would say go for it, if you really love your dog or dogs then it is a good investment. The stress isn't necessary as Helena will definitely help your situation, it will be hard work but completely worth the time and the money.
